Wix pricing in 2026 runs from a free plan to five paid tiers: Light at $17 a month, Core at $29, Business at $39, Business Elite at $159, and Enterprise on quote. Every figure on this page was read from wix.com/plans on September 3, 2026, from a United States connection.
The number that matters more than any of those is the one in Wix's own footnote, and almost nobody quotes it. Wix states plainly: "Displayed prices are for yearly subscriptions, paid in full at the time of purchase." So the friendly looking $17 a month is a single charge of $204, and $39 a month is a single charge of $468. Wix does sell other billing periods, it just does not show their prices on that page.
Wix pricing plans in 2026

Custom domain support, a free domain voucher for one year, and removal of Wix branding all start at Light. The free domain voucher is restricted by extension: Wix lists .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .rocks, .pictures, .co.uk, .club, .space and .xyz. It covers one year, so budget for the normal renewal rate in year two.
The Light plan cannot take a payment
This is the single most useful thing to know before you buy Wix, and it appears in no ease-of-use review. Wix Light, at $204 up front, cannot accept online payments at all. Not a product sale, not a deposit, not a subscription. Reading Wix's own feature comparison, the following are marked "Not included in Light plan":

- Plans and recurring payments
- Customer accounts
- The entire product catalog and ecommerce platform
- Abandoned cart recovery, automatic discounts, pre-orders and manual orders
- Loyalty program, dropshipping by Modalyst, branded eGift cards, back in stock notifications
- Sell on marketplaces and sell on social channels
If any part of your plan involves money changing hands on the site, Core at $348 a year is your real entry price, not Light at $204. That is a 71 percent jump from the tier most people click first, and discovering it after you have paid for a year is a bad afternoon.
Light is also tight in a way that catches service businesses. It gives you four lead capture forms with a maximum of ten fields each. Core raises that to ten forms with fifty fields, Business to twenty five forms with seventy five fields, and Business Elite to seventy five forms with one hundred fields. A contractor who wants a quote request form, a callback form, a careers form and a contact form has used the whole Light allowance.
Does Wix charge transaction fees?
Yes, on one specific thing, and the ladder is steeper than most people expect. Wix applies a fee to everything you sell through Pricing Plans, which covers memberships, subscriptions, packages and any recurring payment. Wix's own comparison gives it as:

Four percent on recurring revenue is a real number once the revenue is real. A yoga studio billing $6,000 a month in memberships on Core hands Wix $240 a month in fees on top of the $29 plan rate, and that is before the payment processor takes its own cut. At that volume, upgrading to Business at $39 halves the fee and pays for itself many times over, and Business Elite at $159 removes it entirely. Work out which tier is cheapest for your actual membership volume rather than assuming the lowest sticker price wins.
The automated sales tax row deserves its own note for US sellers. Sales tax automation is not available at all on Light or Core. On Business you get 100 transactions a month, on Business Elite 500. If you sell across state lines at any volume, that limit arrives faster than the storage limit ever will.
How Wix compares to the other builders on published US prices
Here is where Wix actually sits, using each vendor's own published US rate read in the first days of September 2026. We have compared first-year cost, because the billing shape differs so much between these companies that a monthly figure is close to meaningless.

Wix is not expensive by the standards of this category. It sits in the middle, and its middle tiers are genuinely good value against what Squarespace charges for the equivalent. What Wix is, is front-loaded and gated in places the marketing does not draw attention to. GoDaddy is missing from that table for an honest reason: its pricing page returned HTTP 403 to us on September 3, 2026 from both a US and a European connection, so we have no verified figure and will not invent one.
Is Wix really free?
The free plan is real and permanent, not a trial, and it needs no credit card. It gives you hosting, the editor, the no-code design features and the template library. What it does not give you is your own domain name or the removal of Wix branding, both of which begin at Light. For a hobby project or a page you want to test an idea on, free is genuinely fine. For a business that expects strangers to hand over money or contact details, a Wix subdomain and someone else's branding cost you more credibility than the $204 saves you.
Why is my Wix bill higher than the advertised price?
Three reasons, in order of how often they catch people. First, the advertised rate is the yearly-prepay rate charged in full up front, so the first invoice is twelve times the number you read. Second, tax: Wix states that displayed prices exclude applicable taxes, determined by your billing address and shown on the purchase page before you pay. Third, the free domain is a one-year voucher, so year two adds a normal domain renewal. None of that is concealed, but none of it is in the headline either.
What is the difference between Wix Light and Core?
Twelve dollars a month, and the ability to run a business on the site. Core adds accepting payments, the full product catalog of up to 50,000 products, customer accounts, pricing plans and memberships, scheduling and services, abandoned cart recovery, automatic discounts, and dropshipping with 25 products. It also raises storage from 2 GB to 50 GB and collaborators from 2 to 5. Light is a brochure. Core is a business.
Is Wix worth the money?
For the right buyer, yes. Wix has the most forgiving editor in the category, the deepest app ecosystem, and its middle tiers bundle scheduling, memberships and ecommerce that competitors sell separately. If you enjoy designing and you want to control where every element sits, Wix earns its price.
The reason people churn off it has almost nothing to do with the price and everything to do with what the subscription does not include, which is the words. Wix hands you a beautiful template with placeholder copy and a blinking cursor. Somebody still has to write the home page, the services descriptions, the about page and the FAQ, and US freelance writing rates published in 2026 run $0.25 to $0.42 a word, with $250 to $399 the common project price for a single 1,500 word page. Nine pages of copy costs more than four years of Wix. That is the arithmetic behind the very large number of half finished Wix sites in the world, and it is the same reason it is worth checking early whether the pages you paid for actually rank, since a site nobody finds is the most expensive kind. Can I pay Wix monthly instead of yearly?
Yes. Wix says on the plans page that additional subscription periods are available, so month-to-month billing exists. What it does not do is publish those prices on that page, which is why you will not find a monthly Wix figure in this article. Expect it to be meaningfully higher than the annual rate, since every competitor in the category prices monthly billing at a 25 to 40 percent premium, but treat any specific monthly number you read elsewhere with suspicion unless the writer says where they got it.
How to decide, in about five minutes
Answer three questions in order and the plan picks itself. Will money change hands on this site, in any form, including deposits and memberships? If yes, you start at Core, not Light. Will you sell memberships or subscriptions at more than roughly $1,500 a month? If yes, run the 4 percent versus 2 percent versus 0 percent fee arithmetic before choosing, because the fee will dwarf the plan difference. Do you sell physical products across state lines? If yes, the automated sales tax limits push you to Business at minimum.
And before you commit to a year in one payment, check the exit. Wix does not offer a full site export, and its help documentation states that exporting blog posts to another platform is not currently possible. CMS collections come out as CSV. That is not unusual in this category, and it is not a reason to avoid Wix, but paying twelve months up front for a platform you cannot leave cleanly is a decision worth making deliberately rather than by accident.
