CPA AND ACCOUNTING FIRM WEBSITES

CPA website builder and accounting website builder that writes every page for your firm

A business owner who just got an IRS letter, a dentist who wants a CPA who knows dental practices, a family moving states before April. Each one searches for something specific, and the agent writes a page for each of them.

In short

A CPA website from a builder made for accounting firms costs about $85 to $400 a month in the US. CPA Site Solutions publishes $90, $111, $137 and $166.50 a month, and Build Your Firm publishes $95 a month for its Professional site ($85.50 paid annually) up to $399.95 for its content marketing package. Over three years that is roughly $3,000 to $13,000. Those platforms give you a template and a shared library of stock tax articles. AgentSite is an AI agent that plans and writes pages about your own firm instead (your services, your niche industries, your town, your partners and how you bill) and publishes them on your domain for $49 a month billed yearly ($588 a year), hosting and SSL included.

OVERVIEW

Most accounting firm websites in the United States come from the same handful of vendors, and once you know what to look for you can spot them in a few seconds. The home page has a stock photo of a calculator and a handshake, a Resources menu with financial calculators and a tax due date calendar, a Track Your Refund link, and somewhere around three thousand pages of tax guides that the firm never wrote. That is not a criticism of the firms. The vendors built that model for a good reason. In 2005 a small practice could not write fifty pages of content, and a ready library made the site look complete on day one.

The trouble is what that library does for you in search today. The same guide to the child tax credit, the same record retention schedule and the same article on choosing a business entity sit word for word on thousands of other firm sites. Google indexes one copy and filters the rest as duplicates, so the library makes your site bigger without helping it rank. The pages that actually bring in a client are the ones nobody else can publish: what your firm does, for whom, in which town, and why someone should pick you over the CPA down the street.

Think about who searches for an accountant and what they type. A contractor with three trucks and a messy QuickBooks file wants bookkeeping and a CPA who understands job costing. A dentist buying a second practice wants a firm that knows dental practice accounting. A couple who moved from New York to Florida mid year wants help with a part year resident return. A small business owner who just opened an IRS notice wants representation, this week. Each of those people searches for their exact situation, often with the name of their city, and each of them chooses the firm whose page describes that situation in plain words. A generic Services page with eight bullet points does not win any of them.

That is the job AgentSite does. You describe the firm the way you would brief a new hire: the services you offer (tax preparation, monthly bookkeeping, payroll, IRS representation, CFO and advisory work, entity setup), the industries you know well, the towns you serve, the partners and their credentials (CPA, EA, CFP), how you price, and what makes a good client fit. The agent plans the page map, writes a page for each service and each niche, writes the about and team pages, sets the titles and meta descriptions, and publishes the site with hosting and SSL on your own domain. After launch you edit it by chat. A new fee schedule, an extended deadline, a new staff accountant, a seasonal message about extension filing all take one sentence.

Two features matter more for accounting firms than for most trades. The first is a Pay my bill button. Most firms already invoice through their practice software or a payment processor that gives them a payment link, and the agent puts a Pay my bill button pointing at that page in the header, the menu and the footer of every page. The second is a booking link for consultations. If you book discovery calls through a scheduler, the button points there. The site also carries a request form that emails the inquiry straight to you.

We want to be precise about what AgentSite is not, because accounting firms have needs that a general builder does not cover. AgentSite does not include a secure client portal. CPA Site Solutions and Build Your Firm both bundle file sharing with the website, and CPA Site Solutions states SOX and Gramm-Leach-Bliley compliance for its portal. If you need the portal and the website from one vendor, they are a reasonable purchase. Most growing firms already run a portal inside their practice software (ShareFile, SmartVault, TaxDome and Canopy are common), and in that case the website only needs to link to it from the contact and client pages. AgentSite also does not license a library of CPA written tax articles or send a monthly client newsletter. If those are why you are shopping, buy the incumbents.

Pricing is where the difference shows up over time. CPA Site Solutions publishes four tiers from $90 to $166.50 a month with a 60 day free trial and no contract, and its price has risen since 2019 when Silver was $62.50. Build Your Firm publishes $95 a month for Professional and $120 for Platinum, with lower rates if you pay annually. Over three years a mid tier plan from either vendor costs about $3,900 to $4,900. AgentSite Starter is $588 a year, or $1,764 over three years, for one site of up to eight written pages with 150 chat edits a month, and Pro is $1,488 a year for up to five sites of twelve pages each, which suits a firm with a separate niche brand. The full breakdown of what each CPA Site Solutions tier adds is in our CPA Site Solutions pricing guide, and the plans are on the pricing page.

If you are still deciding between general builders and the accounting specialists, our best website builder for accountants comparison covers Wix, Squarespace and the CPA platforms side by side. And if you want to see how builder subscriptions compare on price before you add up the time you would spend writing, the website builder cost page lays out nine of them.

§ WHAT YOU GET

Built into every AgentSite build.

01

A page for every service you sell

Tax preparation, monthly bookkeeping, payroll, IRS representation, fractional CFO work and entity setup each get their own page, because the person with an IRS notice is not reading your general services list.

02

Niche pages that win better clients

If you know dental practices, construction companies, restaurants, real estate investors or nonprofits, the agent writes a page for each one with the problems that industry brings you. Those pages are how a firm gets specialist fees.

03

Your own words instead of a shared library

Every page is written about your firm, so it is unique to your site. A licensed tax library sits on thousands of other firm sites word for word and does little for your rankings.

04

Pay my bill and book a call on every page

Point a Pay my bill button at the payment page your billing software already gives you, and a booking button at your scheduler. Both appear in the header, the menu and the footer.

05

Changes in one sentence during tax season

An extended deadline, new office hours in March, a fee change or a new staff accountant. Type what changed and the page updates in minutes, without a ticket to a webmaster.

06

Flat price, nothing metered

$49 a month billed yearly ($588 a year) with hosting, SSL and your custom domain included. Turn off renewal from Billing at any time and the site stays live to the end of the paid year, and you can export every page as standalone HTML.

§ FAQ

Common questions.

The best website builder for accountants is the one that ends with a written page for each service, niche and town you want clients from, live on your domain. CPA Site Solutions and Build Your Firm are best if you want a portal and a tax content library bundled with the site. AgentSite is best if you want the pages about your own firm written for you.

A CPA website costs about $400 to $13,000 over three years depending on the route. CPA Site Solutions publishes $90 to $166.50 a month, Build Your Firm $85.50 to $399.95 a month, and AdZep $199 a year. AgentSite Starter is $49 a month billed yearly ($588 a year), with the pages written for you.

CPA Site Solutions is worth it if you will use its secure portal, client newsletter and licensed tax library, because those are bundled into a price from $90 a month with no contract. It is a weaker buy if you want to rank for your own services and niche, since the stock content is shared with thousands of other firms.

Yes, if you want new clients beyond referrals. Business owners check a firm website before they call, and searches like a CPA for contractors or IRS help in a specific city go to firms with a page on exactly that. A site also gives existing clients one place to pay a bill and book a meeting.

Yes, AgentSite writes service and niche pages from what you tell it about your firm, such as who you serve and how you work. You review every page before it goes live and correct it by chat. It does not give tax advice on your behalf, so keep technical claims and figures under your own review.

No. AgentSite builds and hosts the public website and does not store client documents. Most firms already run a portal in their practice software, such as ShareFile, SmartVault, TaxDome or Canopy, and you can ask the agent to add a link to it on your contact and client pages. If you need the portal from your website vendor, CPA Site Solutions or Build Your Firm bundle one.

Yes. Paste the payment link your billing or practice software gives you into the panel, and every page gets a Pay my bill button in the header, menu and footer. Payment runs through your existing processor, so nothing about how you collect fees changes.

A home page, a page per service (tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, IRS representation, advisory), a page for each industry you specialize in, an about page with the partners and their credentials, a page on how you price and onboard, a contact page with your portal link, and a page for each town you serve.

Yes. Every AgentSite plan includes a custom domain with SSL, so the site runs on the address already printed on your letterhead and engagement letters. If you are moving from another vendor, keep the domain registered in your own name so you can point it at the new site without asking anyone for permission.

No builder can promise a ranking. What helps is a page for each town you serve and each service, titles and meta descriptions that use the words clients type, and a Google Business Profile that links to the site. The agent writes and structures the pages that way, and your reviews and profile do the rest.

The agent produces a full first draft of the site within minutes of your description, and you can review and correct every page in an afternoon before launch. Platform vendors configure a template and their content library for you, so the timeline depends on their queue and on how much of the stock content you edit.

Yes. Every live page exports as a standalone HTML file you can upload to another host, and the export stays available after you stop paying. The domain stays yours. That matters for accounting firms, because platform vendors that license their tax library usually keep that content when you cancel.

Yes. AgentSite works for bookkeepers the same way it does for CPA firms, with pages for monthly bookkeeping, cleanup and catch up work, payroll and the software you support such as QuickBooks Online or Xero. Starter covers a solo bookkeeper with up to eight pages for $588 a year.

CPA Site Solutions sells four tiers from $90 to $166.50 a month built around a licensed library of 3,000+ tax pages and a portal, with no contract. Build Your Firm sells $95 and $120 monthly sites with lower annual rates, niche sites with copy written per niche, and a $399.95 package with a marketing manager.
