In short
Website copywriting services in the US charge from about $59 a page on content platforms to $650 to $1,000 a page from experienced independent copywriters, and $1,500 to $7,000 for a five page small business site. Every one of them delivers words in a document, not a live website, so the design, build and hosting are a second purchase. AgentSite writes every page and builds the site around the words from $99 a month.
OVERVIEW
A website copywriting service sells you the words on your pages: the homepage headline, the service descriptions, the About page, the calls to action and the FAQ. People search for one at a very specific moment, usually when a site redesign has stalled because nobody has written the services page, or when a new site went live with template text and the phone is not ringing. It is a buying search. The only question is which kind of service to buy, and the prices published by US providers show that there are four quite different products hiding behind the same phrase.
The first is the content platform. Get A Copywriter lists website pages from $59. Verblio charges $0.06 a word for AI drafts edited by a writer, plus a $49.50 monthly platform fee, or $0.16 a word for fully human writing with unlimited edits and a two to four day turnaround. For an eight page site at around 600 words a page, that is roughly $340 to $770. The writing is competent and fast, and the writer knows nothing about your business beyond the brief you type.
The second is the independent copywriter. This is where most of the search results sit, and the prices are far higher than people expect. The AWAI pricing guide, a reference many US freelance copywriters price from, lists $450 to $4,500 for a homepage and $250 to $750 for an information page, and $1,500 to $3,500 to write a small website with SEO in mind. Salted Pages says the average for quality copy from experienced writers is $650 to $1,000 a page and prices its own standard five page package at $6,000 to $7,000. Sarah Klongerbo sells a brand and website copy bundle for up to five pages at about $3,800, and lists sixteen competing copywriters charging $5,000 to $9,750 for four to eight pages. What that money buys is a person who interviews you, finds the angle, and pushes back when your positioning is vague.
The third is the agency. WebFX publishes content marketing plans at $1,800, $3,600 and $6,000 a month for three to ten content assets, and freelance rates in its survey run $60 to $200 or more an hour. Agencies are the right buy when copy is one part of an ongoing SEO and content program. They are an expensive way to get eight pages written once.
The fourth route is the one this page is about, and it exists because of what the first three have in common. Every one of them hands you a document. You still need someone to design the pages, build them, fit the words into the layout, connect the domain and host it, and the copy almost never survives that step intact: headlines get cut to fit a hero, the FAQ is dropped because the template has no FAQ block, and the service descriptions end up on one page because the theme only had one. We covered how often copy is the line item left out of design quotes on our website design packages page, where Logical Position has the client supply the content and Succeeding Small sells copywriting as a $900 add-on.
AgentSite writes the copy and builds the site in the same pass. You describe the business the way you would brief a copywriter on a first call: what you sell, who buys it, where you work, what customers say when they choose you, what you want the phone call to be about. The agent plans the page map, writes every page in the voice you describe, and lays each page out around its own words, so the service pages, the FAQ and the calls to action all exist on the live site rather than in a document waiting for a developer. Each page gets its own title tag and meta description written from the copy, one H1 and a clean heading outline. When something is wrong, you type the correction in plain language and the page is rewritten, with undo.
That makes the price comparison unusual. Starter is $99 a month, or $79 a month billed yearly, for one site of up to eight pages, with hosting, SSL and a custom domain included and 150 chat edits and articles a month. A year billed monthly is $1,188, which is less than most independent copywriters charge for the words alone on a five page site, and it includes the site the words sit on. Pro, at $249 a month, adds up to five sites of twelve pages, schema.org structured data and blog articles the agent writes and publishes.
The honest trade is this. A great copywriter who spends two hours interviewing you will find things about your business you did not know how to say, and if your market is crowded and your positioning is the whole game, that is worth $5,000. The agent writes from what you tell it. It is fast, consistent and thorough, and it will not argue with your brief. For most service businesses, where the problem is that the site says too little rather than that it says the wrong clever thing, a complete, specific, well structured site this week beats a perfect document that sits in a folder for two months. If you already paid for copy, keep it: paste it into the brief and the agent builds around your words. The rest of the AI copywriting for websites page covers how the agent writes, and what a website really costs puts the subscription next to every builder and agency route.
§ WHAT YOU GET
Built into every AgentSite build.
Words that land on a live page
A copywriter delivers a document. The agent writes each page and builds it at the same time, so nothing is cut to fit a template and the FAQ, service pages and calls to action all make it onto the site.
One page per service
Copy briefs often collapse five services into one page to save on the per page fee. The agent gives each service its own page with its own title tag, which is what lets each one rank for the search it answers.
Search basics written in
Every page gets a title tag and meta description written from its own copy, one H1, a clean heading outline and a place in the sitemap. Pro adds schema.org structured data for the business and every page.
Revisions without a new invoice
Most copywriters include one or two revision rounds. Here you type the change, the page is rewritten, and you can undo it. Starter includes 150 chat edits and articles a month.
Your voice, from your brief
Tell the agent how you talk to customers, the words you never use, and the claims you can prove. It writes in that voice across every page, so the About page and the pricing page sound like the same business.
You own the result
Every page downloads as a standalone HTML file you can host anywhere, and the export keeps working after you cancel. Your domain stays registered in your name on every plan.

§ FIRST YEAR COST OF AN 8 PAGE SITE
Copy plus a working website, first year totals by route.
Copy alone is not a website, so each row adds what it takes to get the words live. Page count is eight at about 600 words each. Builder costs use Wix Core at $29 a month billed yearly as a typical small business plan.

AWAI row: one homepage at $450 to $4,500 plus seven information pages at $250 to $750. Totals exclude taxes and domain registration, about $12 to $25 a year on every route. Your own time building in a DIY builder is not priced here, and for most owners it is the largest cost in those rows.
§ FAQ
Common questions.
Website copywriting costs from about $59 a page on content platforms to $650 to $1,000 a page from experienced independent copywriters. For a five page small business site, published US prices run from about $1,500 to $7,000. The AWAI rate guide lists $450 to $4,500 for a homepage and $250 to $750 for each information page.
Most US website copywriters charge $250 to $1,000 a page, with homepages priced higher because they carry the positioning. Entry-level writers and content platforms start around $59 to $200 a page. Salted Pages puts the average for quality copy from experienced writers at $650 to $1,000 a page.
Freelance copywriters in the US typically charge $50 to $150 an hour, and specialists in conversion, finance, healthcare or SaaS charge $150 to $300 or more. WebFX survey data puts freelance rates at $60 to $200 or more an hour. Most experienced writers quote by project rather than by the hour.
Usually the homepage, About page, service or product pages, a contact page and calls to action, sometimes with page titles and meta descriptions. Most include one or two revision rounds. What is almost never included is the website itself: design, layout, building the pages and hosting are separate purchases, which is why copy often sits unused.
Hire a copywriter when your market is crowded and your positioning is the whole sale, because a good interview finds things you could not say yourself. Use AI when the problem is that your site says too little: missing service pages, no FAQ, vague calls to action. AgentSite writes from your brief and builds the site around the words.
Yes, if the words actually reach the site. Copy is what turns a visitor into a call, and a site with template text rarely converts. The waste happens when a $3,000 document sits in a folder because nobody built the pages. Budget for the copy and the build together, or use a route that delivers both.
Content platforms deliver in one to four days per piece. Independent copywriters usually take two to six weeks for a small site, including an interview, a first draft and revisions. With AgentSite a complete first draft of every page is written and built minutes after you submit the brief.
Many do basic on-page SEO: working the target phrase into headings and copy, and writing page titles and meta descriptions. Keyword research and ongoing ranking work are usually a separate service. Every AgentSite page ships with its own title, meta description, one H1 and a sitemap entry, and Pro adds structured data.
A list of your services, who your best customers are and why they choose you, the area you serve, your prices or price ranges if you share them, real questions customers ask, and two or three sites whose tone you like. The same brief is what AgentSite needs, and the more specific it is, the better every page reads.
With most copywriters you own the final copy once the invoice is paid, but check the contract, because some keep rights until final payment or reserve portfolio use. On AgentSite the pages are yours, and every page downloads as standalone HTML you can host anywhere, even after you cancel.
Yes. Paste it into the brief and tell the agent which pages to keep word for word. It builds those pages around your copy and writes only what is missing, such as extra service pages, the FAQ or page titles. That is often the fastest way to rescue copy that never made it onto a site.
A copywriter writes to make someone act: homepage headlines, service pages, calls to action. A content writer writes to inform, usually blog posts and guides. A small business website needs copy first. Content pays off later, once the core pages exist. AgentSite Pro handles both, with blog articles the agent writes and publishes.
Buying both separately usually runs $4,700 or more in the first year: $2,200 to $9,750 for eight pages of freelance copy plus a $2,500 or larger design package, before hosting. Succeeding Small, for example, charges $3,400 for a five page site with its copywriting add-on. AgentSite writes and builds the whole site for $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly.
