IONOS WEBSITE BUILDER ALTERNATIVE
IONOS website builder alternative: MyWebsite Now pricing and a flat-price AI builder
IONOS MyWebsite Now is cheap for a year and then renews at its regular rate, and you still arrange and write the pages yourself. Here the agent writes the whole site, at one flat price that does not jump.

In short
IONOS MyWebsite Now costs $6, $1 or $17 a month for the first year on a 1-year term, then $14 a month for Starter and $20 for Plus, according to its own US pricing page. Starter allows 10 pages and has no AI text generator. The best IONOS website builder alternative for a small business that wants the site written for it is AgentSite: an AI agent plans, writes and builds every page for a flat $180 a year, or $19 month to month. IONOS is cheaper in year one and includes a mailbox; AgentSite does the writing.
HOW WE COMPARE
IONOS is one of the largest hosting companies in the world, and MyWebsite Now is its do-it-yourself website builder for small businesses. The US pricing page is clear about the headline offer. Starter shows $6 a month, Plus $1 a month and Pro $17 a month, each "with a 1-year term", against struck-through list prices of $18, $24 and $32. Underneath Starter and Plus sits the line that matters: "Then only $14/month" and "Then only $20/month".
So the year-one bill on the best-selling Plus plan is about $12, and year two is $240. That is a 20 times jump, and it is printed on the page, so nobody is hiding it. It just means the decision most IONOS customers face is not made at signup. It is made eleven months later, when the renewal notice arrives and the site is still half a template.
That second point is the one the price does not show. MyWebsite Now gives you a template, drag-and-drop sections, and on Plus and Pro an AI text generator that drafts copy for the section you are editing. You still decide which pages exist, what each one says about your services, and how they link together. The Starter plan caps you at 10 pages and does not include the AI text tools at all, so the cheapest plan is the one where you write every word yourself.
AgentSite works the other way round. You describe the business once, and an AI agent plans the pages, writes every one of them, sets the titles and meta descriptions, and publishes the site with hosting and SSL included. When something changes, you type the change and the agent rewrites the page. The price is $15 a month billed yearly or $19 month to month, and it is the same in year two as in year one.
IONOS MyWebsite Now is a template website builder sold with hosting, a domain and email, with a low first-year rate; AgentSite is an AI agent that plans and writes the whole website itself, at a flat published price that does not change at renewal.

§ THE FIELD
The main IONOS alternatives, compared.
Most IONOS alternative lists are written by other hosting companies and compare servers, not websites. If you are on MyWebsite Now, the real decision is narrower: keep arranging a template yourself at the regular rate, or pay a similar amount for a site that is written for you. These are the options US small businesses actually weigh at that point.

§ FAQ
Common questions.
IONOS MyWebsite Now shows three US plans on a 1-year term: Starter at $6 a month, then $14; Plus at $1 a month, then $20; and Pro at $17 a month. The struck-through list prices are $18, $24 and $32. State and local taxes apply, and every plan includes a free domain for the first year.
If you want the site written for you, AgentSite is the closest fit: an AI agent plans and writes every page for $180 a year with no renewal jump. If you want to design it yourself in a better editor, Squarespace is the usual pick. If you mostly want cheap hosting, stay with IONOS or look at other hosts.
Yes, and IONOS prints it on the plan card. Starter moves from $6 to $14 a month and Plus from $1 to $20 a month after the first year. Its General Terms say extended-term packages renew automatically for the same length unless you switch auto-renew off, and you get a notice 30 to 60 days before.
It is a reasonable, cheap builder for a simple site if you are happy to arrange a template and write the copy yourself, and the bundled mailbox is genuinely useful. It is a weaker fit if you need many service pages written well, because on Starter every word is yours and the AI help on Plus works section by section.
Partly. Plus and Pro include an AI text generator, AI image generator and AI SEO tools, and the setup can draft text from a short description of your business. Starter does not include the AI text or image tools. In every plan you still choose the pages and arrange the sections yourself.
Starter allows 10 webpages, Plus allows 200 and Pro is unlimited, according to the IONOS comparison table. That is more than AgentSite, which writes up to 8 pages on Starter and up to 12 per site on Pro. The difference is that on AgentSite the agent writes those pages, while on IONOS you fill them.
Plus is the middle MyWebsite Now plan and the one IONOS labels its bestseller. It adds the AI text, image and website tools, AI SEO, online booking, site analytics, 50 GB of storage, a 12 GB mailbox and up to 200 pages. It costs $1 a month for the first year on a 1-year term, then $20 a month.
The IONOS General Terms say you can terminate through the control panel or by written notice from the email address on your account, with thirty days notice. Fees still owed under a minimum or extended term become due on termination. To stop a renewal without cancelling early, switch off auto-renew in your account before the term ends.
Usually yes. A domain registered at IONOS can be transferred to another registrar or simply pointed at a new website. Do that before cancelling the website plan, and check whether the free domain was part of the same contract, because IONOS notes that a domain needs to be in the same contract to connect it directly.
Yes. Email and website are separate services even when they sit on one bill, so you can keep the IONOS mailbox and point only the website records at the new site. AgentSite does not provide email, so most owners who move the site keep their IONOS email or move it to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
In year one, clearly: IONOS Plus is about $12 for the first year against $180 for AgentSite Starter. From year two IONOS Plus is $240 a year and AgentSite stays at $180. Over three years the totals are close, so choose on who does the writing, not on the price.
Describe your business to AgentSite and let the agent build the new site first, with every page written. Copy anything you want to keep from the old site, such as photos or testimonials, into the brief. Then point your domain at the new site, redirect the old page addresses, and only then cancel the IONOS website plan.
Yes, in both years. Squarespace Basic is $228 a year billed annually with no first-year discount, while IONOS Plus is about $12 for year one and $240 after. The trade is the editor and templates: Squarespace is far more polished to design in, and neither of them writes your service pages for you.
Stay if your site is already finished and working, if you rely on the bundled mailbox and booking tool, or if you are happy to write and rearrange pages yourself for a low price. Move when the renewal arrives and the site is still a template you never had time to fill, because that is the part AgentSite does for you.
