How much does Base44 cost?
Base44 has five self-serve plans plus Enterprise. Yearly billing saves 20 percent, which Base44 describes as the monthly price times twelve with the discount applied and charged once a year.

Elite is the top plan you can buy directly. Base44's docs describe a drop-down on the Plans page for choosing a larger credit amount, and anything beyond Elite goes to the sales team, which offers custom credits, SSO and invoice or ACH billing for Enterprise.
What each Base44 plan includes
Free gives you the core product: AI app building, the built-in database, authentication and analytics, for up to 5 apps. You cannot connect your own domain, and the 25 monthly message credits are capped at 5 a day, so it is a trial, not a way to run a business site.
Starter at $16 a month billed yearly is the cheapest plan that looks professional. It adds unlimited apps, in-app code edits, a custom domain and removal of the Base44 badge. It does not include GitHub sync or backend functions.
Builder at $40 is where Base44 says teams shipping multiple apps tend to land. It adds backend functions, two-way GitHub sync, AI model selection and, on yearly billing only, a free domain for one year and 25 credits to give a friend. If owning your code matters to you, this is the real entry point, because GitHub sync is how Base44 lets you export the full source.
Pro at $80 doubles the credits and adds early access to beta features. Elite at $160 adds premium support on top of 1,200 message credits.
How Base44 credits work
Base44 uses two kinds of credit, and they run out independently.
Message credits pay for building. Every prompt that plans, changes or fixes your app uses some, and Base44 is open that there is no fixed cost per message. Its own documentation gives these rough ranges:

The exact number is calculated after the action runs, and Base44 says a short request can still cost several credits if the AI has to read and rewrite many files, for example translating the whole app or rebuilding a page for mobile. Manual edits in the visual editor are free, and on paid plans the automatic AI error fixes are free too. On the Free plan both count.
Integration credits pay for what your published app does. Sending an email is about 1 credit (about 2 from your own domain), generating an image about 1, an automatic LLM call about 1, a stronger model 5 to 15 per call, and generated video about 5 credits per second. If you bring your own API key for an outside service, Base44 does not charge integration credits for that call, and services such as Stripe or SendGrid bill you directly on their own pricing.
Do Base44 credits roll over?
No. Paid plans reset both credit balances monthly on the day you subscribed, measured in UTC, and unused credits expire at the end of the cycle. A slow month does not bank anything for a busy one. Switching from monthly to yearly billing does not refresh credits mid-month either; you keep your current balance until the next reset.
What happens when you run out of credits?
This is the rule to understand before you put a customer-facing site on Base44. When message credits run out, you cannot send new prompts until the reset date unless you upgrade. When integration credits run out, any action in your live app that uses a Base44 service fails. Base44 emails you, but a visitor who submits a form that triggers an email just sees a generic error. For a business that relies on its contact form, that is worth planning around, either with headroom on the plan or with your own email API key.
Base44 also states that credits are not refundable when the AI makes a mistake, because each prompt still uses compute. There is no top-up pack listed on the pricing page; the documented route to more credits is upgrading the plan.
Base44 discounts and free credits
- Yearly billing takes 20 percent off every paid plan.
- Academic discount gives students, teachers and staff 50 percent off Starter or Builder, for up to 12 months on monthly billing or the first year on yearly billing, verified with a school email. It applies once and only to personal subscriptions.
- Referrals give a friend 30 credits at signup, and you earn 30 when they publish an app and 100 if they upgrade.
- Sharing your project on LinkedIn or X can earn 20 message credits once per account.
What a business website costs on Base44 for a year
Here is the honest math for the most common non-developer use, a five to eight page site for a service business on its own domain. The plan cost is predictable. The credits are where the variation lives.

None of these rows include the time it takes you to decide the page structure, write the copy and prompt every page into shape, because Base44 builds what you ask for. That is the right trade for an app. For a marketing website it is the part most owners were hoping to hand off.
Is Base44 worth it?
For software, yes. A client portal, booking tool, internal dashboard or small SaaS with user accounts is exactly what Base44 is designed for, and $40 a month for a working backend, auth and GitHub export is very good value. Base44's sticker price is also lower than most finished-site services at every tier.
For a business website, it depends on who does the work. If you enjoy prompting and writing, Starter at $16 a month is hard to beat.
