Those figures were read from Hostinger's own pricing pages on August 31, 2026. The advertised rate is genuinely one of the cheapest published prices in the US market, and the renewal is three to four times higher, which is the part most comparison tables leave out.
There is a second condition that matters more than the renewal. Hostinger's page states that "all plans are paid upfront" and that "the monthly rate reflects the total plan price divided by the number of months in your plan." The $2.99 rate is quoted against a 48 month term, so the actual transaction is a single charge of $143.52 for four years of hosting. That is still good value, but it is not a $2.99 monthly decision, and it is worth knowing before you compare it against something billed monthly.
Hostinger pricing in 2026: every published plan
Hostinger does not sell its website builder as a separate product. The AI builder is included with the hosting plans, so the table below is the price of both. Every figure was read from hostinger.com on August 31, 2026.

The arithmetic checks out against the advertised rate in all three cases, which is a good sign of an honestly built pricing page: $2.99 times 48 is $143.52, $3.99 times 48 is $191.52, and $7.99 times 48 is $383.52. Shorter terms are available and cost more per month. The rates above are the 48 month figures, which are the ones Hostinger leads with.
How much is Hostinger after the first term?
This is the question the advertised price is designed not to answer, so here is the full eight year picture: four years at the intro rate followed by four years at the renewal rate.

Even at the true average, Hostinger is inexpensive. The honest summary is that the advertised price is a real discount rather than a trick, but it is a four year commitment and the number you will live with long term is closer to $7 to $17 a month than to $3 to $8.
Hostinger VPS pricing
If you outgrow shared hosting, Hostinger's KVM VPS line runs on the same intro and renewal structure, priced on two year terms. Read the same day: KVM 1 at $6.49 a month renewing at $11.99, KVM 2 at $8.99 renewing at $14.99, KVM 4 at $12.99 renewing at $28.99, and KVM 8 at $25.99 renewing at $49.99. The KVM 4 jump is the steepest in the range at more than double, so it is worth pricing the renewal before you size a plan.
Why is Hostinger so cheap?
Three reasons, and none of them are a catch. Hostinger sells shared hosting at very high volume, so the per customer cost of a server slice is small. It collects four years of revenue upfront, which is worth a great deal to a subscription business and is fairly passed back as a discount. And the renewal rate, three to four times the intro, is where the margin actually sits, which is a standard and openly published model across the hosting industry. What you are buying at $2.99 is competent shared hosting, not a managed service.
Do I have to pay for four years upfront?
To get the advertised rate, yes. Hostinger's pricing page states that all plans are paid upfront and that the monthly figure is the total divided by the term length. You can choose a shorter term, but the monthly rate rises as the term shortens, and the headline numbers you see in reviews are almost always the 48 month ones. If committing four years to a host you have not used is uncomfortable, that is a reasonable instinct, and a shorter term at a higher rate is the price of finding out.
Is Hostinger good for a small business website?
For hosting, yes, and the price is hard to argue with. The gap is what happens above the hosting layer. Hostinger's AI builder is metered at 5 to 15 credits a month depending on plan, which is enough to generate a site and not much more, and like almost every builder in this category it produces a layout and leaves the words to you. Writing services pages, an about page and copy that explains why a customer should call you rather than a competitor is the work that stalls most small business sites, and no amount of cheap hosting shortens it.
That is the distinction worth holding onto when you compare. Hosting is a solved, commodity purchase where the cheapest competent option usually wins. Building the site is not. How does Hostinger compare to other builders on renewal?
Hostinger is not unusual in having a renewal cliff. It is unusual in publishing it clearly on the same page as the intro rate. Read across the category on August 31, 2026, IONOS advertises a Plus plan at $1 a month on a one year term that becomes $20 a month, which is a twentyfold increase, and a Starter plan at $6 that becomes $14. B12 advertises $1 a month for the first three months and then charges $49 or $78 depending on tier. Durable, by contrast, publishes $25 and $49 a month with no intro cliff at all, which costs more on day one and less in surprises.
Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy and Web.com did not return a readable US price to us on that date. Wix served a tax inclusive grid stating that USD prices are shown for reference only, GoDaddy and Web.com returned a 403, and Squarespace rendered no price in the page we received. We would rather say that than repeat a figure from a review site, because we have checked a search snippet against a vendor's own page before and found it wrong by a wide margin.
What you should actually compare
Three columns, in this order. First, the renewal rate rather than the intro rate, because you will pay it for longer. Second, the term you have to commit to in order to get the advertised number, which is where a $2.99 plan turns into a $143.52 charge. Third, how much of the actual work the plan does for you, because a builder that hands you an empty template has left the expensive part on your desk.
If hosting is all you need and you are happy to prepay, Hostinger is a strong buy and this article is not arguing otherwise.
